Some big changes took place around town recently.
BRIANT "Mike" Lee of Bowling Green was installed as the 2010 Potentate of the Zenobia Shriners on Jan. 7 with a reception on Jan. 9 for him and his wife, Nancy. Mr. Lee isn't the only new part of the Shriners. A fixture for many years in downtown Toledo, the Zenobia moved its headquarters to Perrysburg in Broadstone Industrial Park. A grand opening was held on Dec. 20, where Bob Latta presented Zenobia with a flag that was flown over the nation's capitol.
Ed Fairchild is the new commander of the Toledo Sail and Power Squadron; Linda, his wife, is the executive officer. The change of watch was Jan. 9 in the atrium of the Ramada Inn on Secor Road, followed by the New Commander's Ball.
The local squadron, noted for providing boating-safety education, is affiliated with the national organization.
A new class, open to the public, is America's Boating Course, which meets all of the state and federal recreational boating-education requirements. For registration contact the Clay Career and Tech Department at 419-693-0668.
