The Dental Center of Northwest Ohio's “Toast to Teeth” was in mid-August at the Toledo Zoo's Science Museum.

The center, started in 1910 by the Toledo Dental Society, has been celebrating its centennial all year long.

The weather was sultry but it didn't matter because everyone was indoors in the cool air conditioning where they meandered about, looking at the displays, shopping the silent auction, and eating.

Dental Center board chairman Dr. Joe Hessling played emcee for the night and welcomed the more than 130 supporters.

Special recognition was given to avid supporter Dr. Ted Beitelschees, Toledo Dental Society board president. He was presented with a thank you for all the years of service that he and the society have provided. A picture of society members who volunteer at the center was framed with autographs from thankful patients and presented as a small token of appreciation.

Thanks also went to board member Dr. Nan Tertel, the evening's event chairman.

Lindy Cree, the center's executive director, reports about $25,000 as the expected net to support the Smile Express, a mobile dental office for outreach in the community that provides dental services at day cares, hospitals, schools and more.
