WARM weather and sunshine were in their hearts if not in reality, so the weather didn't stop folks from having fun.

UNITED WAY in Ottawa County held its inaugural golf invitational April 29 at the Catawba Island Club. The Arthur Hills designed course was in beautiful shape, and the weather was cooperative for the first CIC tournament of the season. The event, sponsored by Yark BMW and Coppus Mercedes in Tiffin, included lunch for the 14 teams with a reception following.

Jeff Lamb, former funny guy with WXKR-FM (94.5), emceed the million-dollar shoot-out for the winning team, which included Burt Jamieson, Tim Medley, Tab Hinkle, and Jake Holmes.

    More than $7,000 was netted.

SOMETIMES it's nice to have no agenda except fun. And what better way to spend the day than to attend the 22nd annual River View Yacht Club Day at the Bay. The Jet Express came to Toledo Yacht Club Saturday and transported folks to Put-in-Bay. Two boats came -- one in the morning and one after lunch -- then returned that night with some happy and tired boaters. Among the group were folks from area Toledo Yacht Club, Toledo Sailing Club, Harbor View Yacht Club, River View Yacht Club, and Perrysburg Boat Club.
