Summer in northwest Ohio is not complete without at least one trip to Fifth Third Field even in a year when the Mud Hens are struggling mightily.

Each year attendance tops a half million at the downtown Toledo ball park as people of all demographics take advantage of beautiful weather and the unique camaraderie that comes with sitting outside and watching baseball. It’s as much a social outing as it is about sports because the game’s natural rhythms allow time to talk, clown around with kids, and eat a big pile of tasty junk food without feeling guilty about it.
This summer has been no different and as we head into August and the beginning of the end of another season, On the Town celebrates the Mud Hens and Fifth Third Field.
