Authors! Authors! has two speakers scheduled for its 16th season: Neil Gaiman and Christopher Buckley.

Gaiman, a fantasy novelist, will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Stranahan Theater. He's written graphic novels, including Coraline, Mirrormask, and Neverwhere, and wrote the screenplay for the 2007 film, Beowulf, which starred Angelina Jolie and Ray Winstone.

Buckley has generated buzz in the book world with his recent Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir, about his famous parents, William F. Buckley, Jr. and Patricia Buckley. A political satirist, Buckley is an editor at Forbes magazine and a former columnist for the National Review, founded by his father. His other books include the novels Thank You for Smoking, Little Green Men, The White House Mess, No Way to Treat a First Lady, Wet Work, and Florence of Arabia.

A recipient of the Thurber Prize for American Humor, he's slated for Nov. 18.

Launching its 16th year, the popular series typically hosts six writers each academic season: three in the fall and three in the spring. It is paid for by funds from by donations and bequests, and interest income from those investments is down, said Clyde Scoles, director of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.

Another two or three speakers will be added to the spring portion of Authors! Authors!, he said. The program is cosponsored by The Blade.

Programs start at 7 p.m. in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, available at the door and at library branches. Information: 419-259-5266.
