Authors! Authors! series announces lineup

3/1/2013

As the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library continues to work on lining up a third guest for this year's Authors! Authors!, area residents are sure to be delighted with guests Jamaica Kincaid and Anna Quindlen.

Kicking off the 19th year of Authors! Authors!, Kincaid — a writer, novelist, and professor who has written for The New Yorker and The Paris Review — will appear at the McMaster Center at the Main Library in downtown Toledo on March 28 at 7 p.m.. The author of such works as At the Bottom of the River and A Small Place has been described as "candid and emotionally honest." Drawing from her childhood in Antigua, she said she "never give[s] up thinking about the way I came into the world, how my ancestors came from Africa to the West Indies as slaves. … It's like a big wave that's still pulsing."

Best-selling author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, and social critic Quindlen will appear at the Stranahan Theater on May 8 at 7 p.m.. The author of six novels, Ms. Quindlen's volume of work includes her views on day-to-day life and commentaries on an array of issues, from women's issues to politics and public policy.

The $10 tickets go on sale March 8 and are available at Toledo-Lucas County libraries. Authors! Authors! is sponsored by the library and The Blade.
