Washington's late catch leads Tiffin

ERIE, Pa. - Nate Washington caught three touchdown passes from Ryan Harpold, including a 71-yarder with 14 seconds left, as Tiffin beat Gannon 49-48 yesterday.

Tiffin (1-5) fell behind 48-42 when Darmel Whitfield scored on a 16-yard run with 28 seconds remaining. But Gannon's (3-4) Jarret Kier missed the extra point, which proved to be the difference when Ben Sandrock made the conversion after Washington's tying score.

Washington, who played at Scott, finished the game with eight catches for 214 yards, including scores of 37 and 38 yards from Harpold.

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Chad Teague kicked field goals of 26, 30, 21 and 36 yards for the Purple Raiders (5-0, 4-0 Ohio Conference).

The 'Berg (1-4, 1-3) managed just 81 yards.

HANOVER, Ind. - Sophomore quarterback Corey Minnfield, who played at Woodward, left his name on seven Defiance passing marks: completions (31), yards (414) and touchdowns (5), team completions (33), team first downs (20), yards (444) and team touchdowns (5).

Defiance (2-4, 0-2 Heartland Conference) had 526 yards in offense, while Hanover (5-0, 2-0) had 608.
