Men's basketball roundup: Tiffin hits 18 3-pointers

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - Tiffin set a new single-game team record with 18 3-pointers in a 136-64 rout yesterday of Penn State Beaver in the Notre Dame Classic.

Eight players scored in double figures as Tiffin amassed a 72-24 halftime lead.

Connor Gregg led with 19 points. The Dragons (5-5) outrebounded PSB 66-25 while shooting 60 percent from the field.

James Ball had 16 points, Lucius Sullivan 14, Steve Beretich 14, Nick Scheutzow 13 (13 rebounds), Mike Dhondt 11, Ryan Pessel 11 and Mondale Anderson 11 for Tiffin.

Bluffton 78, Hiram 66

BLUFFTON - Bluffton's Michael Anthon scored a career-high 22 points. Junior Scott Bergman posted 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Beavers (4-4). Junior Eric Sweet connected on 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Grand Valley St. 69, Findlay 65

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Marcus Wallace scored 19 points for Grand Valley State (7-1). Dustin Pfeifer came off the bench to lead Findlay (7-2) with 17 points. Tyson McGlaughlin and Dorian Bass added 14 points apiece.

Muskingum 66, Heidelberg 62

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Zach Ross scored 16 and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer as Muskingum overcame a late surge by Heidelberg. Kenny Gilbert led Heidelberg (3-6, 1-3 OAC) with 18. T.J. Johnson added 14 and Andrew Lemmon 11.

John Carroll 71, Ohio Northern 64

ADA, Ohio - Brandon Mimes had 17 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and hit the go-ahead basket to help John Carroll stay undefeated. Phil Hoying led Ohio Northern (5-4, 2-2) with 12 points, and Ryan Lee and Nate Lieb each scored 10.

Hillsdale 67, St. Francis (Ill.) 58

HILLSDALE, Mich. - Hillsdale (5-3) won its third straight game as John Farr led the way with a season-high 21 points. Cory Coe added 12 points and Dave Powell had 11. St. Francis falls to 1-15.

Roberts leads Dayton

ST. LOUIS - Brian Roberts, a St. John's Jesuit graduate, came off the bench to score 14 points and lead Dayton over Saint Louis 62-54.

After Saint Louis took a 50-49 lead with 5:36 left, the Flyers (4-3) went on a 13-4 run to secure their third victory in a row.

Monty Scott and Norman Plummer added 12 points each for Dayton.

Reggie Bryant scored 16 points to lead Saint Louis (2-7).
