Pre-season poll picks Central Michigan to win MAC
7/29/2008DETROIT A preseason media poll predicts Central Michigan will win the Mid-American Conference football championship this season.
The MAC News Media Association preseason poll results were to be announced Tuesday during the conference s annual media day at Ford Field in Detroit.
The two-time defending champion Chippewas are favored to capture the West Division, while Bowling Green is picked to win the MAC East Division with Miami of Ohio close behind in the East Division.
Six teams received votes as potential championship game winners. Central Michigan had 24, with the others split among Ball State (5), Bowling Green (4), Buffalo (1), Miami (1) and Western Michigan (1).
The championship game is Dec. 5 at Ford Field.
