RICHMOND, Va. - James Madison freshman Julius Wells, a Libbey graduate, was named rookie of the year in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Wells averaged 11.8 points and a team-leading 5.5 rebounds per game during JMU's 18-13 regular season. He was the conference's leading scorer among freshmen and the league's No. 2 freshman rebounder. His 70 3-point field goals rank fifth in the league overall and first among freshmen.

Wells has scored in double figures 21 times and has scored 20 or more points five times.

At Libbey, Wells averaged 11.5 points and 9.3 rebounds as a senior.
