  • They say whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Well in the case of the Rockets, they were pretty much left for dead at the end of their meat-grinder nonconference schedule. What Tim Beckman and his players went through can only be described as a cannonball to the midsection, like on that crazy YouTube video. Somehow, someway, the Rockets picked themselves up off the mat and embarrassed Temple on its home field last Saturday. Now in my third season on the UT beat, I'm not sure if I've seen a more impressive win. UT End Zone

In case you haven't heard, BG got clocked last Saturday by West Virginia. Couldn't stop the pass-happy Mountaineers from running the ball. Couldn't get enough offense going to stay in a contest.
And if I'm the Falcons, I couldn't care less about any of that. Certainly BG wanted to win, because you want to win ALL of your games. But the Falcons needed to play their best game to have a chance to win, and they didn't. So it's time to move on — on to games that actually matter for a team that wants to compete for a MAC title. The fingerprints on Ohio State's wretched offensive performance this season can be traced to one guy. It's not Terrelle Pryor, although he's at fault for plenty of mischief. Pryor thought running the option meant free tattoos, fast cars, and unlimited withdrawals from the equipment room. The culprit behind the current mess on offense is Jim Tressel. He was the iron-fisted dictator of OSU's offense during his tenure with the Buckeyes, and when he slinked off, Tressel took the memory card for the offense with him. OSU End Zone

When the season began, I identified four games Michigan should win, four games it might win, and four games in which I figured wins to be unlikely. As we creep up on the midway point of the season, all 12 games suddenly look winnable. My viewpoint has changed somewhat because Michigan is better than anyone anticipated. But one must ask, what in the heck is going on with the Big Ten? Ohio State is an unmitigated disaster. Nebraska was embarrassed last week in a matchup at Wisconsin allegedly featuring the two best teams in the league. UM End Zone
