COLUMBUS — Butler signee Kyle Young announced today that he is following new Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann to Ohio State.

Young, a 6-foot-6 forward who helped Massillon Jackson to a Division I state championship earlier this year, initially signed to play for Holtmann at Butler, choosing the Bulldogs instead of Ohio State, but he had not yet enrolled.

After Holtmann accepted the Ohio State job and brought the entire Butler staff to Columbus earlier this month, however, Young said in a Twitter post that he “asked for and received” his release from Butler.

In the post, Young said his relationship with the coaching staff spurred his change.

“[Holtmann's] vision for Ohio State basketball is exciting, and I want to be a part of building something special in my home state,” Young wrote.

Young becomes the first new player added to the roster in Holtmann's tenure. The Buckeyes now have 10 scholarship players on the roster.
