“Cupcake Saturday” came at a good time for pollsters. There were very few games that shook up the polls, so it made things a little easier this week as I worked on my ballot for the FWAA/NFF Super 16 poll.

So here goes: here is a look at my ballot for this week, with a couple of explanations at the bottom:

1. Alabama (Last week: 1)

2. Wisconsin (2)

3. Miami (3)

4. Clemson (4)

5. Oklahoma (5)

6. Auburn (6)

7. Georgia (8)

8. Notre Dame (9)

9. TCU (10)

10. Ohio State (12)

11. UCF (14)

12. Washington State (15)

13. USC (16)

14. Mississippi State (NR)

15. Penn State (NR)

16. Oklahoma State (7)

To start, I corrected my mistake from last week and knocked Washington out of the top 16. They are on the fringe of the 16, but I don’t think they belong in the top 16.

There were a few upsets on Saturday: For example, North Carolina State losing to Wake Forest knocked the Wolfpack of the rankings (and congrats to former BG coach Dave Clawson and his squad on a fine season to date). And while Oklahoma State lost to Kansas State, I kept them for a few reasons: I liked their comeback against Kansas State, and I remember how they stood toe-to-toe with Oklahoma. And perhaps I’m a fan of Mike Gundy’s mullet.

As for the rest of the ballot: I’m confident I have the right five teams at the top, and you are welcome to argue with the order. I also am pretty confident about the five that follow.

As for No. 11 onward, I’m happy to listen to your arguments.
