BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University football team has added another junior college linebacker to its roster, as Hassan Belton has enrolled at the school.

Belton, who originally committed to UTEP earlier this offseason, confirmed his enrollment at BG on Twitter. He will participate in spring practices with the Falcons and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

He played at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan., last season. Belton finished with 67 tackles, including 14½ tackles for loss and 3½ sacks, in 11 games. He forced and recovered two fumbles, intercepting one pass he returned 47 yards for a touchdown.

Belton was an All-Jayhawk Conference honorable mention honoree last season.

The 6-foot, 210-pound linebacker sat out the 2016 as a walk-on transfer at South Carolina, where his brother Matrick was a receiver. Belton began his college career at Western Carolina, where he played as a true freshman for the Catamounts and had 11 tackles, including one sack.

Belton was a three-year starter at Blythewood High School in Columbia, S.C., where he finished his career with 279 tackles, including 210 solo stops. Belton played in just seven games as a senior but still had 115 tackles, including 15 for loss and seven sacks, along with four forced fumbles and an interception.

Belton was a two-time All-South Carolina and all-region choice in high school.
