Trial of man accused of wife's murder begins
2/9/2011NORWALK, Ohio — The trial of a Bellevue, Ohio, man charged with fatally beating his wife got under way yesterday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.
Clifford Beach, 80, is charged with aggravated murder, murder, and gross abuse of a corpse stemming from the Aug. 16 death of Linda Beach, 63, at their home. He allegedly beat her to death with a shovel and other gardening tools.
He had entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, but that plea was withdrawn after an evaluation showed he was competent to stand trial.
