OTTAWA, Ohio — The wife of Putnam County Sheriff James Beutler on Friday was denied her second request to get out of prison early.

Visiting Judge Keith P. Muehlfeld of Henry County denied a motion for judicial release filed by Kathy Beutler, who is serving a three-year sentence for stealing more than $261,000 from her former employer, the Ohio Farmers Union, over a four-year period.

Beutler, 48, of Columbus Grove pleaded guilty to aggravated theft in Putnam County Common Pleas Court and was sentenced last May to prison and ordered to pay restitution. In December, Judge Muehlfeld denied Beutler’s first request for early release.
