Nearly 2,000 bench warrants through Toledo Housing Court could be waived if the property owners make an appearance in city’s Municipal Court during a week-long amnesty program.

Judge Allen McConnell, the city’s housing judge, is hosting the program hoping that anyone with a bench warrant will appear in court for the waiver incentive.

The amnesty week program starts June 27 and runs through July 1. Anyone who shows up will have the warrant waived, but will still be responsible for any fees, fines, and corrections to their property or properties.

The first and last time the court hosted a housing amnesty week was in 2004, Judge McConnell said.

Anyone wishing to participate in the program should visit the clerks office at Toledo Municipal Court between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. next week.

Those who do not participate will maintain their warrant and could be arrested, for example, if they are pulled over for a traffic violation
