Bond was set at $45,000 Friday for a woman accused of shoplifting and then leading area law enforcement agencies on a chase through Sylvania Township and Ottawa Hills before she was arrested in West Toledo, authorities said.

Heather Valentine, 36, of Maumee was arraigned by video Friday at Sylvania Municipal Court on charges of aggravated theft, felonious assault, failure to obey a police order, obstructing official business, and robbery, according to jail records.

She was being held in the Lucas County jail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday in Sylvania Municipal Court.

The chase began at Kohl's department store, 1220 South Holland-Sylvania Rd. in Sylvania Township, about 8:15 p.m. Thursday when a woman wanted for theft fled the store and drove off.

She was arrested about 8:30 p.m. at Penn and Paisley roads, according to Toledo police. Before abandoning her vehicle, she drove her vehicle at a sheriff's deputy at some point, police said.
