BOWLING GREEN — A former employee of the Fort Meigs YMCA convicted of stealing more than $16,000 from her employer was sentenced Tuesday to 80 days in jail, followed by 60 days of electronic home monitoring.

Sara Perna, 29, of Perrysburg also was ordered by Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex to pay $16,043 in restitution to the YMCA, to perform 200 hours of community service, and to complete three years of community control. The judge said Perna, who is pregnant, would be able to see a doctor.

Perna, who did not make a statement at the sentencing hearing, was found guilty of theft in May after a two-day jury trial. She was fired by the YMCA last year after it was discovered that $16,043 in cash payments made to the Y’s child-care center were not deposited.
