The May shooting death of a Sylvania man by police will have no further investigation, the Lucas County grand jury has decided.

James DeClercq, 67, was shot and killed May 8 after a nearly 10-hour standoff at his apartment at 6632 Maplewood Ave. with police from Sylvania, Sylvania Township, Toledo, and Maumee. The incident was investigated by the Attorney General Office’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.

A Lucas County grand jury recommended that no charges be brought and that officers responded correctly.
