3 counterfeit suspects arraigned in Monroe

MONROE -- Two men and a woman arrested in connection with counterfeit bills found during the search of a Monroe apartment were arraigned yesterday in Monroe County District Court.

Desmond Clark, 24, and Jontele Goodwin, 21, were ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bond, each on two counts of possession of counterfeiting tools and one count of possession of counterfeit notes.

Bond for Dartavia Payne, 18, was set at $20,000 for a possession of counterfeit notes charge. An Aug. 18 hearing is set.

Police searched the apartment of Ms. Payne and Mr. Goodwin after three garbage bags of counterfeit bills were found in a trash bin near the complex at 620 John Anderson Ct.

Detectives took bogus bills and suspected crack cocaine from the home. A 16 year-old Monroe boy was being held in the Monroe County Youth Center.
