Jury seated in man’s trial for girl’s death in 1967
8/11/2011Nine women and three men were selected Wednesday to serve as jurors in the first-degree murder trial of Robert Bowman, charged with the 1967 slaying of a 14-year-old Sylvania Township girl.
Jury selection spanned three days as attorneys worked to seat a jury of 12 members and four alternates. Opening statements are scheduled to start this morning followed by the first witnesses.
Bowman, 75, is accused of killing Eileen Adams, last seen Dec. 18, 1967, as she was getting off a bus in West Toledo. Authorities believe she was held captive in Bowman’s former home on West Sylvania Avenue for as long as two weeks before she was killed. Her body was found in a Monroe County field in January, 1968.
The trial is expected to last about three weeks. Judge Gene Zmuda is presiding.
