One of 20 people charged with crimes associated with heroin sales within the city changed his plea yesterday in U.S. District Court in Toledo.
Juan Gonzales, Jr. pleaded guilty per a negotiated agreement to a narcotics conspiracy charge. Two counts each of possession with intent to distribute heroin and unlawful use of a communication facility will be dismissed. Judge Jack Zouhary set a Feb. 6 sentencing date.
Gonzales was arrested May 10. Investigators said he was one of several defendants that trafficked more than 20 kilograms of heroin, with an $11 million street value, into Toledo. The plea is the first in the case involving 19 co-defendants.
