A Toledo man charged with killing a man by intentionally hitting and dragging him 63 feet with a van appeared in Lucas County Common Pleas Court yesterday in street clothes after posting bond late last month.

Geoffrey Dupuis, 47, of 3335 West Laskey Rd. is charged with murder stemming from the death of Randall York, 55, of West Toledo.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to life in prison.

A Nov. 28 trial date was set in the case. Yesterday, Judge Gary Cook also scheduled an Oct. 27 hearing date.

Authorities say Mr. York was hit June 11 after trying to stop the suspect and his son from fleeing a gas station lot at Secor and Laskey roads after an alleged crime.

According to court records, a bonding company posted the $150,000 bond set in the case Sept. 28.

As a condition of his bond, Mr. Dupuis is not to have any contact with the victim's family and is not permitted to drive a motor vehicle.
