Ex-Toledo Fire Chief named in lawsuit

Former Toledo Fire Chief Mike Wolever has been named in a lawsuit filed in Lucas County Common Pleas Court by a woman who claimed that in 2009 he ran into her with his vehicle.

Rose Marie Flynn filed the complaint Friday against the City of Toledo and the former chief. The lawsuit, filed late Friday by Dzienny Law Office, Ltd., asks for damages in excess of $25,000.

According to the complaint, Ms. Flynn was a pedestrian on the sidewalk on the west side of Huron Avenue near a fire station when Chief Wolever “failed to pay appropriate attention, maintain control of his vehicle, and negligently struck the plaintiff ,causing her to sustain serious personal injuries.”

The complaint said the incident occurred at 7:11 a.m. Oct. 9, 2009, and that Ms. Flynn accumulated in excess of $2,000 in medical bills The case was assigned to Judge Linda Jennings.
