A Curtice, Ohio, man entered a plea in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for stealing a Toledo police cruiser and then assaulting a police officer.

Kent Crozier, 22, faces up to 2 1/2 years in prison when sentenced by Judge Ruth Ann Franks on Nov. 21. He pleaded guilty Monday to assault and attempted theft of a motor vehicle. Per the negotiated plea, the theft charge was reduced to an attempted charge.

Crozier was convicted of driving off in a marked police cruiser parked at El Camino Real restaurant, 2500 West Sylvania Ave.

Police said officers responded to a disturbance on Aug. 23 and were investigating when Crozier stole the car. When Crozier and the vehicle were found later in the 2200 block of Fairfax Road, police said Crozier head-butted an officer as he was taken into custody.
