A former worker at a West Toledo restaurant accused of pouring animal medication into a pot of fresh coffee is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on a first-degree felony.

Edwin Ledgard, 36, of 111 S. Summit St. was indicted Monday by a Lucas County grand jury on one count of contaminating a substance for human consumption. If convicted, he faces up to 11 years in prison.

Ledgard is accused of going into the Frisch’s Big Boy, 3537 Secor Rd., on Dec.18 and allegedly dumping the contents of three vials of a drug used to treat anemia in baby pigs into a brewing pot of coffee. He remains in custody at the Lucas County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
