Doctor gets probation for workers’ comp fraud
11/30/2011A 78-year-old doctor recently sentenced in federal court for conducting physical exams on potential workers-compensation claimants despite losing his medical license years earlier was sentenced to probation in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for a similar charge.
James Mann of Rossford was ordered by Judge James Jensen to serve five years’ probation and pay $90,278 in restitution to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and $10,530 in investigation costs.
Mann pleaded no contest to one count of workers’ compensation fraud. He was found guilty of providing exams despite being unlicensed to do so.
On Nov. 21, Mann was put on supervised release for one year for a similar conviction in U.S. District Court, Toledo, fined $100,000, and ordered to pay $91,482 in restitution to the U.S. Department of Labor.
