BOWLING GREEN -- A former Perrysburg woman who admitted to setting fire to her apartment at Perry Lake Village last February is to be sentenced Feb. 13 in Wood County Common Pleas Court.
Chelsie Smothers, 20, of 445 Whitlock Ave. faces up to six years in prison when she is sentenced by Judge Reeve Kelsey. On Monday, she pleaded guilty to two counts of arson in a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Smothers had been indicted on two counts of aggravated arson. The Feb. 16 fire caused some $600,000 damage to the apartment complex on Lake Vue Drive. No one was injured. The blaze was reported by a Perrysburg police officer, who saw flames coming from a building while he was on patrol in the area.
Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson said the plea agreement was reached, in part, because of concerns regarding Smothers' intentions in setting the fire.
