Man charged in shooting in West Toledo

Trevor Groves, 19, is charged with shooting a man in the ankle inside a home at 1743 Stahlwood Ave.

A man playing with his father's shotgun Friday afternoon accidentally shot another man in the ankle, according to Toledo police.

Delbert Blackford, 21, was treated at Toledo Hospital.

Trevor Groves, 19, is accused of shooting the gun inside 1743 Stahlwood Ave., near Jackman Road, in West Toledo, a little after 1 p.m.

He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

He was released later Friday pending arraignment Saturday morning in Toledo Municipal Court.

A witness at the scene, who said he was sitting next to Mr. Blackford, said Mr. Groves loaded his father's shotgun and pumped it.

It accidentally went off, shooting Mr. Blackford and a dog, according to police.

Neither injury appeared life-threatening, authorities said.
