S. Toledo man to be arraigned in connection with stabbing

Brian McGovern is charged with felonious assault for one of two stabbings on Western Avenue on Thursday.

A South Toledo man is to be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Saturday morning in connection with one of two stabbings Thursday night on Western Avenue.

Brian McGovern, 31, of 138 Lake Shore Ave. is charged with felonious assault for the stabbing of Cleveland Manning, 20.

Mr. Manning and Nathaniel Bond, 18, were stabbed in the 900 block of Western Avenue about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, according to a police report.

Mr. Manning, who was stabbed on the right side of his chest, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where a hospital spokesman said he was in serious condition Friday afternoon.

It's unknown what hospital Mr. Bond was taken to and the extent of his injuries. The police report said Mr. Bond's mother, Rebecca Hoffman, told authorities her son had been stabbed, but he was not present when officers arrived.
