BGSU employee charged with collecting pay for OT not worked
1/10/2012BOWLING GREEN — An administrative secretary at Bowling Green State University was suspended after she allegedly collected thousands of dollars in undue overtime.
Lynn Houtz, 32, of 205 Railroad St. in Wayne, Ohio, is charged with one count of theft in office for receiving $7,500 in overtime pay that was not worked, according to university spokesman Dave Kielmeyer.
Ms. Houtz was arraigned in Bowling Green Municipal Court on Jan. 4, the same day she was suspended with pay, on the charge. She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, according to court records.
Court records list the “violation date” as Oct. 19, 2009.
Ms. Houtz worked in the BGeXperience department, which helps acclimate first-year students to college life, according to the university’s Web site.
The university’s office of human resources is conducting a disciplinary investigation, which is expected to be completed this week.
