Toledo man convicted for raping 12-year-old

A Lucas County Common Pleas Court jury Thursday convicted a Toledo man on three counts of rape for the assault of a 12-year-old girl.

Frederick Coffey, 56, of 921 Homer Ave. was found guilty after a four-day trial that included testimony from the now-13-year-old victim. He faces life in prison when sentenced Friday by Judge Linda Jennings.

Because the victim was under the age of 13, each rape count carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison with parole eligibility after 10 years.
