Bond was set at $100,000 Tuesday for a Bryan man accused of leading area law enforcement officials on a car chase Monday night that started in Sylvania Township, authorities said.

Aaron F. Garrett, 26, the driver, was arraigned in Sylvania Municipal Court on charges of theft and failure to comply with a police order. He was ordered held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of bond Wednesday pending a pretrial hearing, Lucas County sheriff's deputies said. His passenger, Mackenzie McBride of Bryan, was not charged at the time of the incident, according to Bryan police.

Police had charged Garrett with felony escape and issued an arrest warrant after police say he walked away from a Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio work site in Bryan on Jan. 23.

On Monday, he failed to comply with a Sylvania Township officer's order to stop at the Meijer store in the 7200 block of Central Avenue after trying to steal a video game system at the store, sheriff deputies said. A pursuit ensued, ending in South Toledo just before midnight, deputies said.
