An April 9 trial date was set in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for a Northwood man charged with murder for the robbery and shooting death of a man in a vacant East Toledo field.

Devon Daly, 18, is charged with one count each of murder, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery, each with a gun specification. If convicted, he faces life in prison. He appeared Tuesday in court, where he pleaded not guilty. Judge Dean Mandros ordered him held on $800,000 bond pending a trial date.

Mr. Daly is the second person charged in the shooting death of Rory Hunter, 23, of Toledo. He and Jacob Rodriguez, 16, are accused of robbing Hunter of marijuana and shooting him. His body was found behind a vacant building in the 1100 block of East Broadway near Stillman Street.

The Rodriguez youth is in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center. A hearing to determine whether he should stand trial as an adult is set for Thursday.
