Sylvania Twp. man sent to prison for fondling girl

A Sylvania Township man was sentenced to time in prison Thursday for fondling a 9-year-old girl at the library.

Jason M. Jeffries, 23, of 7924 Central Ave. was sentenced in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to 14 months in prison by Judge Linda Jennings.

Jeffries entered an Alford plea Feb. 29 to attempted gross sexual imposition. In an Alford plea, the defendant maintains innocence but acknowledges sufficient evidence for a conviction. The court treats it as a guilty plea.

Police said Jeffries inappropriately touched the girl at the Sylvania branch library Oct. 27. The victim was not in court.
