BOWLING GREEN -- A former clerk for Pemberville's Board of Public Affairs has agreed to pay $3,213 in restitution to the village for money she stole and $11,525 to the state auditor's office for its investigation.

Marcella Abke, 50, of Pemberville pleaded guilty to theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, in Bowling Green Municipal Court last week and was sentenced to five years of community control. A felony theft charge in Wood County Common Pleas Court was dismissed as part of the plea agreement, said Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson.

He said between March 31, 2009, and Feb. 28, 2011, Ms. Abke received cash payments for utility bills as a village employee and pocketed the money rather than deposit it in the village account.
