The trial date for a man charged with killing his cousin during a Dec. 30 altercation was postponed in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Monday.

James C. Smith, 35, of 1937 Parkdale Ave. is charged with murder with a gun specification. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

At the request of Smith's attorney, Judge Linda Jennings rescheduled the trial to June 18.

Smith is accused of shooting Antonio Johnson, 27, at Smith's address near Ottawa Park. Authorities said Mr. Johnson went to the house and pounded on a screen door and then, after breaking that door, on the main door. Police say one shot was fired through the door and it struck Mr. Johnson in the chest.
