E. Toledo pair indicted in child endangering case

An East Toledo couple allegedly caught on video assaulting their adoptive child were indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Joshua and Courtney Waxler, both 24, of 2355 Seaman St., were each charged with two alternate counts of endangering children, second-degree felonies.

They each face up to eight years in prison if convicted. They were being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $100,000 bonds.

Police allege Mr. Waxler assaulted the 3-year-old child with a tennis shoe and that Mrs. Waxler choked her and threw her to the ground sometime in early or mid February. The assault was reportedly recorded on a cell phone by a relative.

The girl, and a 5-year-old girl, who are relatives of the couple, had been in the Waxlers' care for about three years.
