FINDLAY -- An assistant Hancock County prosecutor charged with assaulting his girlfriend has been fired, while another assistant prosecutor who was twice convicted of soliciting a prostitute in the 1990s is to resign by July 13.

Drew Wortman, 37, of Findlay was terminated this week, county officials said.

Mr. Wortman is charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, for a Jan. 30 incident in which he is accused of assaulting Crystal Nusser, with whom he had been living.

His case is scheduled for a pretrial hearing Tuesday and a jury trial beginning June 7 in Findlay Municipal Court.

K.C. Collette, 66, who also is a Findlay city councilman, is to leave the prosecutor's office by July 13.

Mr. Collette was suspended without pay for two weeks in March after it was learned he had failed to disclose his prior misdemeanor convictions in Florida to Hancock County officials when he was hired as an assistant prosecutor in 1996.

County Prosecutor Mark Miller did not return a phone call seeking comment Thursday.
