Four nearly simultaneous raids in Toledo and Holland Thursday resulted in at least two arrests and the confiscation of drugs, cash, and guns, officials said.

Charles S. Johnson, 56, of 5540 Benore Rd., and Albert E. Weather, 45, of 8248 Country Brook Dr., Holland, were arrested by the FBI and charged with federal drug crimes.

Information provided by the Toledo Police Department states that the drug charge is a federal possession with intent to distribute cocaine charge.

The raid at Monster Garage Complete Automotive & Detailing, 5825 Angola Rd., started about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, with Toledo Police, Gang Task Force officers, and FBI agents assigned to the Metro Drug Task Force.

After the garage was secured, Toledo SWAT executed “knock-and-announce” warrants at Weather’s residence, 1407 Upton Ave., and at 1926 Calumet.

The Upton address is associated with Weathers, who has lived there in the past.

Police said that all locations were entered and searched without incident.

Taken from Monster Garage was $65,000; from Upton, police took a quarter ounce of “suspected marijuana,” valued at $25; from the Calumet address, police took an eighth of an ounce of marijuana, valued at $13, a 9mm semi-automatic firearm, and $1,741, police said.

Dave Dustin, FBI spokesman, declined to comment on additional arrests, additional charges, or more specifically on the “drug offense” charges that Weathers and Johnson face.

Mr. Dustin could not comment on why an armored vehicle was used Thursday during the raid on Angola.

Mr. Dustin said both suspects are to appear in the U.S. District Court at 3 p.m. today.

Toledo Deputy police Chief George Taylor said that some people found inside the business were detained while others were released.

At least eight were held for questioning, the chief said.

Chief Taylor said search warrants were obtained in U.S. District Court and Toledo Municipal Court in advance of the raid.
