A Toledo man was sentenced Friday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to community control after being found guilty of causing a crash with a police vehicle.

Jared Harris, 22, of 2027 Broadway pleaded no contest to vehicular assault and was ordered to serve two years on community control including 30 days on electronic monitoring. Judge Stacy Cook also ordered him to pass a driver's intervention program.

A second count of aggravated vehicular assault was dismissed.

Authorities said three Toledo police officers were injured when their vehicle was struck at South Avenue and Stebbins Street just after 10:30 p.m. Feb. 4.

Officer Paul Marchyok was driving a car with limited markings east on South on the way to assist other officers when a motorist who was traveling north on Stebbins failed to stop for a stop sign before turning left on South, authorities said.

The two collided, and Harris appeared to attempt to flee before his vehicle struck two houses.
