Toyer convicted of stabbing death of girlfriend

A jury in Lucas County Common Pleas Court has convicted a man in the fatal March stabbing of his live-in girlfriend and mother of his child.

Judge Dean Mandros on Friday will sentence Charles Toyer, Jr., 21, on one count of murder. The jury found him guilty of stabbing Tiffany Wilborn, whose stab wound was 3½ inches deep, puncturing her heart and coming within an inch of her spine.

Both the state and defense rested their cases on Wednesday. The jury began deliberating at noon today.

Toyer faces up to life in prison at sentencing.
