A November trial date was set Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for a man charged with the death of a bouncer at a Toledo strip club.

Jamieius Smith, 29, of 2029 Southmoor Dr. pleaded not guilty to one count of murder. Several unrelated cocaine charges and charges of having a weapon as a felon also are pending against him. If convicted of murder, he faces up to life in prison.

Judge Frederick McDonald set a Nov. 27 trial date for all three cases and ordered Smith held in custody in lieu of $250,000 bond for the murder count. Smith is charged with the death of John R. White, 38, of Lake Township, who worked security at Deja Vu, 135 S. Byrne Rd. Investigators said Mr. White was hit about 2:55 a.m. Sept. 29 during a fight with a man who had been asked to leave the club, and then hit his head on the pavement. The victim died several days later as a result of the head injury.
