Toledo man, 38, charged in shooting of 2, Felonious assaultcharge is filed

A man wanted in connection with a shooting Friday morning in East Toledo was being held in the Lucas County jail Saturday pending a court appearance.

Darnell D. Gibson, 38, of 1015 Delence St. was arrested on a charge of felonious assault about 5:40 p.m. Friday in the 4100 block of Asbury Drive. He is scheduled to appear Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Toledo police said that Charles Marshall, 28, and Joseph Sandifer, Jr., 40, were shot about 12:40 a.m. Friday on Parker Avenue. Mr. Sandifer was shot in the right side of his chest and taken to Toledo Hospital. Mr. Marshall was shot in the neck and taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in a private vehicle. Neither hospital had information about patients by those names.

An arrest warrant was issued in connection with the shooting of Mr. Marshall, who told police the shooter was “Marco,” an alias used by Mr. Gibson, according to the warrant.
