Man sentenced for role in robbery of 2 in S. Toledo

A Toledo man was sentenced Monday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to 13½ years in prison, which he will serve in addition to an eight-year term ordered in Wood County Common Pleas Court.

Wesley Jude, 18, of 1436 Hamilton St. pleaded guilty last month to aggravated robbery with a gun specification and failure to comply for his involvement in the Aug. 15 robbery of two women in the South End.

Judge Ruth Ann Franks sentenced him to 10 years in prison for aggravated robbery, 30 months for failure to comply, and a mandatory year for the gun specification.

The judge ordered the sentence consecutive to eight years ordered Sept. 28 in Wood County, where Jude was found guilty of two counts of grand theft of a vehicle and three counts of complicity to commit burglary.

The two sentences combined total 21½ years in prison.

Judge Franks noted Jude was on electronic monitoring when he and three others approached two women and robbed them of a car and belongings at gunpoint.

Police chased the vehicle, which Jude was driving, when it failed to stop after an attempted traffic stop near Spencer Street and Western Avenue.

The chase ended near Eastgate Road and Airport Highway.

Co-defendants Christopher Smith, 18, of 852 Colfax St. received three years in prison; Johnathon Williams, 18, of 3413 Gibraltar Heights Dr., five years of community control, including six months in the Correctional Treatment Facility. Tyquandre Carpenter, 19, of 1501 Buckingham St. pleaded guilty Oct. 11 to robbery and will be sentenced Thursday.
