NAPOLEON – Visiting Putnam County Common Pleas Judge Randall Basinger today scheduled a jury trial for March 18 and 19 for Henry County Commissioner Richard Myers.

Mr. Myers, 63, of Liberty Center, Ohio, is charged with having an unlawful interest in a contract for allegedly loaning $25,000 of his own money to a specialty-car company that was interested in relocating to Henry County.

He then allegedly convinced his fellow commissioners to award a $300,000 grant to the company and voted on the grant himself, but did not divulge his investment to the board. The company did not come to Henry County, and the county never recouped the $300,000.

Mr. Myers, a Democrat, lost his bid for re-election Tuesday to Republican Glenn Miller of Napoleon.
