A Georgia man who police said caused a single-car crash in October has been indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on charges related to the death of his passenger.

Joshua Pelton, 25, of Savannah, Ga., was charged Friday with alternate counts of aggravated vehicular homicide as well as one count of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. If convicted, he faces up to nine years in prison.

Authorities said a car driven by Mr. Pelton was westbound on the Anthony Wayne Trail at 10:50 p.m. on Oct. 19 when his car left the road and struck a tree in the median between the Trail and Seventh Street. His passenger, Kenneth Tesznar, 25, of South Toledo died as a result of injuries from the crash.

The weapons charge related to two loaded handguns found in the vehicle after the crash. Authorities said they were unrelated to the cause of the crash.
