Toledoan, 18, jailed on charge of assault

A Toledo man was being held in the Lucas County jail Thursday night after he appeared in court on a charge of felonious assault.

James Allen, 18, of 1732 Westland Gardens Rd. is accused in the Nov. 5 shooting of Devante Coleman, who was hit in the stomach and a leg, according to Toledo Municipal Court records.

His bond was set at $100,000.

The 19-year-old victim, of Toledo was shot at about 7 p.m. in the 4200 block of Asbury Drive in West Toledo.

Judge Robert Christiansen noted that the suspect has a 10-page juvenile record and, at the time of the shooting, was on a six-month parole for a burglary conviction from Lucas County juvenile court.

Allen is scheduled to be in court again on Thursday.
