After serving 17 years on the bench, Lucas County Common Pleas Judge James Jensen cleaned out his courtroom Friday as he prepares to move over to the 6th District Court of Appeals.

Judge Jensen officially retired from the common pleas bench. He is to begin his new position as appellate court judge Feb. 11, after the seat is vacated by retiring Judge Peter Handwork.

Judge Jensen, who was appointed to the common pleas court in 1995 and elected in 1996, ran unopposed in the November election for the court of appeals seat. He beat out fellow Republican Toledo Municipal Court Judge Robert Christiansen during the March primary.
